Kano Electricity Distribution Company
has lamented that it is recording losses of about N180 million yearly
due to the persistent attacks on its facilities by vandals within Kano
metropolis.
KEDCO’s Public Relations Officer,
Mohammed Khandi, made the disclosure, while conducting newsmen around
some areas where KEDCO facilities, particularly transformers were
vandalised in Hotoro, Sharada and Sabon Gari areas of the metropolis.
Confirming that some of the vandals were
nabbed, while perpetrating the act in the Sabon Gari area of the
metropolis, Khandi however disclosed that they would be prosecuted
immediately they complete investigation.
He however urged members of the public
to protect KEDCO facilities as their personal property by ensuring close
monitoring of the facilities.
