JAMB Policy Meeting To Hold June 2nd 2016, Cut-off Marks To be Decided


The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that it will on June 2nd, 2016 hold its policy meeting and fix cut-off points for admission this year.

It was learnt that the policy meeting will be presided over by the Honourable Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu.


Speaking on this, the head of information, JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin in a statement stated as follows;
 "This year’s meeting is scheduled to hold on June 2. Nationally accepted cut-off marks would be decided and issued Federal Government guidelines and regulations would be articulated and decision taken; even as it would x-ray the performance of subsequent years to put checks and balances."

"The very important meeting has policy makers, the Heads of all tertiary institutions, the Vice-Chancellors, Rectors,Provost, Registrars and relevant stakeholders like the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Youth Service Corps and others in attendance."

"The Honorable Minister places much important on this assembly and has categorically made it clear that he won’t tolerate a situation where decision reached would be flagrantly disobeyed or not adhered to strictly.“Some of this decision borders on admissions deadlines and quota system which some institutions has failed to comply with and other sharp practices capable of undermining the entire admission process."

He pointed out that cut-off points are minimum score as candidates is expected to score before being admitted into any institution but equally added that institutions are at liberty to go higher depending on their peculiarities.
